COVIDGCC: GULF’S FIRST COVID DASHBOARD

COVIDGCC is a data analytics platform designed to track, visualize, and forecast COVID-19 trends across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The platform aggregates real-time public health data from global sources and transforms it into interactive dashboards that help citizens, researchers, and policymakers understand the trajectory of the pandemic across the Gulf region.

The system integrates daily data pipelines, forecasting models, and interactive visualizations to provide a unified analytical view of COVID-19 across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

By combining epidemiological data with macroeconomic indicators such as healthcare capacity, migration, and tourism exposure, the platform delivers a deeper analytical perspective on how structural factors influence pandemic spread.

The solution was built as a mobile-optimized web platform functioning similarly to an application, enabling users to explore live dashboards, forecasts, and regional comparisons across multiple devices.

Time Series Forecasting - Exponential Smoothing

The forecasting engine applies exponential smoothing models to detect patterns and trends within COVID-19 case data across GCC countries.

The model dynamically adjusts weighting toward recent observations to better capture emerging outbreak patterns and improve short-term forecasting accuracy.

Data Pipelines & Web Scraping

A custom data scraping pipeline collected daily COVID-19 statistics from public global health repositories including:

• World Health Organization (WHO)
• Johns Hopkins COVID-19 dataset

This pipeline automated data cleaning and preparation for visualization dashboards.

Interactive Data Visualization

The platform leveraged Tableau dashboards embedded into an application, enabling real-time exploration of:

• confirmed cases
• active cases
• recovery rates
• cross-country comparisons
• economic and healthcare indicators

INFLUENTIAL TECHNOLOGIES & RESEARCH

Certificate of participation awarded to Noah Mukhtar for attending the National COVID-19 online training program organized by the Ministry of Health of Bahrain, held between July 8 and July 21, 2020, with 12.0 CME credits, signed by Prof. Manaf AlQahtani.

Regional Media Coverage

The project received press coverage from Gulf Daily News, one of the Gulf region’s leading media outlets. The platform was featured in two articles highlighting the launch of COVIDGCC - the Gulf’s first centralized COVID-19 analytics dashboard” and the “Together Against COVID-19” awareness campaign, which promoted social-distancing measures across the region.
